Department of Psychology


The Department of Psychology provides the opportunity to study for a master's degree, majoring in psychology, to study psychology as a minor subject, and to pursue postgraduate studies for licentiate and doctoral degrees. The education is particularly oriented towards the fields of developmental psychology, neuropsychology, clinical psychology, personality and social psychology. Training and teaching for the various degrees is planned and implemented in collaboration with Psykonet, a network connecting all the university departments of psychology in Finland.


The research areas?at the Department relate to human development, learning, and psychological interventions.


There is a Psychotherapy Training and Research Centre at the Department. The Department cooperates closely with the Niilo M?ki Institute, a centre for the research and assessment of learning disabilities. It also has joint research activities with?Child and Family Research, the Gerontology Research Centre, and the Child Research Centre.
